Help Me Grow (HMG) is a statewide child development program that provides services to expectant parents, newborns, and infants and toddlers with or at-risk for developmental delays or disabilities until their third birthday. All of these services support the child and the child’s family with the goal of enhancing the child’s development. Help Me Grow is a voluntary program and is designed with the family’s goals and concerns in mind. Help Me Grow of Cuyahoga County is a comprehensive family-centered system of services that promotes and supports the optimum health and development of all children prenatal to three and their families.
Help Me Grow ensures infants and toddlers grow, learn, and develop to their fullest potential. In Cuyahoga County, Help Me Grow provides two primary services for children up to three years of age at no costs to families:
- For children at risk of a developmental delay: Help Me Grow delivers parenting education in home visits along with support and encouragement for eligible for parents prenatally until a child's third birthday. Help Me Grow parent educators support parents' skill-building, screen children's development and health, and conduct home safety checks.
- For children with a suspected or documented developmental delay: Help Me Grow staff along with their partners at the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities complete a developmental evaluation and/or assessment. Help Me Grow service coordinators meet with children and families in their homes. Service coordinators ensure families' access to the services and supports needed for children to achieve optimal growth and development.
