Regional Transition Council (RTC) Mission: Regional Transition Councils, representing secondary transition stakeholders in schools and communities in Ohio, are dedicated to promoting strong transition plans, practices, and programs for students with disabilities leading to successful transition from school to adult life.
Toward this end, the RTC will:
· Promote collaborative relationships between districts, community agencies, and families for the improvement of secondary transition services;
· Build a regional knowledge-base by disseminating current information on secondary transition practices to schools, families, and community partners;
· Establish communication and idea sharing, discuss concerns, and solicit feedback from transition stakeholders;
· Promote greater transparency in order to remove barriers across service systems; and,
· Work to improve school districts’ targeted outcomes on State Performance Plan Indicators 1 (graduation rate), 2 (dropout rate), 13 (transition planning), and 14 (postsecondary outcomes).
State Support Team Region 3’s Regional Transition Council is composed of representatives from local school districts, community schools, parents, institutions of higher education, community agencies, business, and other interested stakeholders. The RTC meets quarterly to identify areas for need and develop plans to address these needs, share information on upcoming events, hear speakers on current topics of interest, and develop collaborative efforts between members. Members are expected to share their knowledge gained at these meetings with the community at large.
Areas of interest of the RTC are the planning of regional college and transition fairs and self-advocacy/self-determination skills for students. These activities are in collaboration with other community and state entities.
