Parmadale

Parmadale School, located on the grounds of Catholic Charities Family Services in Parma, Ohio, serves troubled adolescents who have been referred for residential placement/treatment in an effort to resolve personal issues that affect their lives. The average daily attendance is 80 students. The school houses 7 multiple-category special education classrooms each managed by a full time teacher and one (in some cases, two) paraprofessionals. On average, two to three childcare workers provided by Catholic Charities attend school with the students to assist with supervision in each classroom.

In addition to the specialized instruction provided by the teaching teams, students are supported by the services of a school psychologist, speech/language pathologist, Title I teacher, Title I tutor, individual/small group instructor, physical education/health teacher, special education supervisor, and school principal.

Five and one half hours of daily instruction are based on the State Standards for Ohio Schools and is differentiated to meet the needs of both general and special education students. All state mandated assessments are given on-site to assist districts of residence in accounting for their students' participation in Ohio's testing program. Students earn high school credit for all classes taken during the regular school year or during the summer school session.
