During this 3-day series, participants will learn how to promote young children’s social-emotional development within the context of their existing PBIS framework (Tier I) utilizing the CSEFEL (Center on the Social and Emotional foundations for Early Learning ) model, the text by Skylar and Raminsky-Challenging Behavior in Young Children: Understanding, Preventing and Responding Effectively, elements of Conscious Discipline, and other popular social-emotional curricula.
Facets of the modules include:
- building relationships
- creating supportive environments
- social-emotional teaching strategies
- determining the meaning of challenging behavior
- developing behavior support plans
Attendees will have opportunities to use materials and apply new strategies in their classrooms and then return for discussion to share experiences, brainstorm solutions, and hone skills. Participants will be expected to share effective Tier I classroom practices as part of program-wide PBIS prior to implementing Tier II supports. |
