Open Education Resources: How to go Textbook-Less
Wednesday, October 9, 2019
Topic: Behavior & Climate
Sponsored by: ESC-CC
Presenter(s): Stephanie DeMichele

Why are we—in the 21st century—still relying on learning materials that are antiquated?  Why are we still burdening our students (and ourselves) with cumbersome, expensive and outdated textbooks?  At a time when we have the most powerful online educational tools at our disposal, why are we still espousing a one-size-fits-all methodology?  There is a better way!

Open Educational Resources (OERs) are cloud-based, relevant, timely, interactive and FREE materials that allow educators to fuel collaboration, engage learners, and keep educational materials relevant, customizable, and inexpensive.  In this workshop, educators will:

=       Explore vetted, easy-to-navigate OER sources categorized by content area

=       Discover new ways to deliver instructional materials in the digital age

=       Examine ways to best formatively assess learning in a “text-book-less” classroom

=       Curate a lesson plan for their own online “textbook-less” classroom.

Audience: Teachers, assistant principals, assistant principals, curriculum directors, technology director, coaches and other interested educators
