Identifying ELs for Special Education December 17, 2019 l 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM l $100.00 How do you distinguish between a language difference and a learning disability? How do you ensure that a student has had strong Tier 1 support? How can you ensure that English learners (ELs) are not under or over represented in Special Education? This session will equip EL teachers and other staff with questions, resources and data collection tools that can help to correctly identify English learners who may need Special Education services. We will look at ODE guidance, RtI, MTSS and best practices for identifying students. In addition, we will discuss ways to support ELs who currently have an IEP, including how to provide services and collaborate with other staff. EL teachers, Special Education staff, school psychologists and administrators are encouraged to attend. Presenter: Jill Kramer |
