More than two decades of research demonstrates that the social, emotional, and cognitive dimensions of learning are deeply linked. Educating the whole student requires rethinking teaching and learning so that academics and students’ social, emotional, and cognitive development are woven into the fabric of every aspect of school life and where existing programs are honored but enhanced by this new emphasis.

 

Systemic schoolwide SEL implementation requires an infrastructure where all stakeholders understand the value of SEL and why now more than ever SEL is a top priority for school districts.

 

In this interactive virtual learning session, participants will examine the process for creating an infrastructure in a district/school to initiate, guide, and support the systemic implementation of SEL.  Participants will then put the process into practice as they engage in a full review of their current level of implementation and their district’s needs and resources using two essential tools. P
