Mental health consultation in Early Childhood settings is becoming an increasingly recognized intervention strategy to support children with emotional and behavioral challenges in Early Childhood environments. In this training participants will learn to:

¨ Define effective early childhood mental health consultation (ECMHC)

¨ Identify the qualifications, skills and characteristics of effective ECMH consultation

¨ Discuss roles and responsibilities of the consultant

¨ Describe core components of effective consultation programs

¨ Identify phases of establishing mental health consultation within a program

¨ Explore issues related to cultural competence in ECMHC

¨ Highlight resources available to the ECMH

Audience:   SCHOOL DISTRICTS ONLY, Itinerant teachers, related services school counselors, and social workers. Directors and administrators supporting the consultative model.
