Description:   Students do not need to learn to
decode before they learn to comprehend.
Both skills can be taught simultaneously
starting in the primary grades.
 
This workshop is for K-2 teachers,
Intervention Specials, and those who
work with students in the primary grades.
 
In this session, participants will learn
rigorous, instructional strategies to
deepen student understanding through
metacognition. We will focus on the
strong foundational skills necessary to
comprehend text, including making
inferences, predicting, summarizing and
writing arguments.
