Description: |
Ohio’s Learning Standards-Extended (OLS-E) also are commonly known as “the extended standards.” These standards help to ensure that students with significant cognitive disabilities are provided with multiple ways to learn and demonstrate knowledge. At the same time, the extended standards are designed to maintain the rigor and high expectations of Ohio’s Learning Standards. The extensions are to be used with students who will be assessed using the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD). SST-3 will provide professional learning courses equal to 45 contact hours or 3 graduate hours ($600.00 through Ashland University) in each core academic content area (English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science and Social Studies). These hours can be applied to meet HQT requirements as well. The OLS-E courses for each content area will consist of : • Three (3) five (5) hour mandatory face to face sessions (15 hours) • Self-paced online work (5 hours) • Documented practical application/field experience in the classroom (9 hours) • Online discussion board participation (6 hours) • Documented additional preparation time for assignments and readings (10 hours).
