This workshop will focus on close reading strategies that can be used immediately within the classroom based on the work of Kylene Beers and Robert Probst.

Participants will leave the sessions with an understanding of how anchor standards can influence planning of close reading lessons and how teaching students to identify common sign posts can deepen comprehension and connections to the text.

Day one will focus on the sign posts found in literary text and day two will focus on the signposts found within non-fiction text.
