This module will focus on strategies that will support our English Language Learners, age 3 through 5 prekindergarten. Session one begins with the topic of assessment in the early childhood setting, specifically that of young English Language Learners. The first step toward determining appropriate supports and care to support their learning and development in a preschool setting is to identify which children are indeed English Language Learners or Dual Language Learners. This session will discuss the various assessment tools and practices. The second session will focus on Universal Design Learning. There will be three Strategies associated with UDL. They are: Multiple Means of Representation, Multiple Means of Action and Expression, and Multiple Means of Engagement. |
