Description: |
High quality reading instruction is absolutely essential for students who are at risk for reading difficulties.
This is a four part professional development series. The first two sessions you will learn the developmental sequences of phonological awareness; phonemic awareness and phonics; reflect on your current assessment practices; explore several diagnostic instruments and practice research-based, multi-sensory instructional strategies.
The third session will focus on small group instruction (guided reading) with an emphasis on comprehension.
Lastly, in the fourth session teachers will examine the writing process and the types of writing students should be producing within the classroom. |
