Bookmaking Workshop: Form and Content
Tuesday, October 21, 2014
Topic:   Behavior & Climate
Sponsored by:   ESC-NEO
Presenter(s):   Laura Martin, Ph.D.
Description:

This enjoyable hands-on workshop will inspire your creativity and sense of wonder. Learn to make simple books in a variety of structures, including the novel flexagon, the traditional map-hinge, and a simple album. We will consider ways in which these book forms may contribute to supporting the content, whether it is created in classroom literacy and writing programs, family or community projects, project-based or collaborative learning in any discipline, or for simple pleasure and relaxation.

The workshop is appropriate for PreK-12 teachers and administrators, literacy and reading coaches, librarians, artists, writers, bibliophiles, and anyone interested in learning how to make handmade books as repositories for ideas, stories, photographs, and treasures.

This workshop is a program of Octavofest, an annual celebration of the book and bookmaking (http://engagedscholarship.csuohio.edu/octavofest/) that is celebrated in venues around Northeast Ohio every October.

Audience:   PreK-12 teachers and administrators, literacy and reading coaches, librarians, artists, writers, bibliophiles, and anyone interested in learning how to make handmade books
