Description:  

Foundations of Reading Preparing Teachings in the Principals of Scientifically-Based Reading Instruction prepares teachers in the principles of scientifically research-based reading instruction.  The course enhances teachers’ reading instruction and intervention and builds a deeper understanding of all skills that contribute to competent reading according to the National Reading Panel:  Phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.  Kindergarten through third grade general and special education teachers will learn to determine who is “on-track” and not-on-track”, as well as provide research based foundational reading techniques for the entire class.
