Positive Education Program (PEP)

As Greater Cleveland’s largest non-profit agency committed to our community’s kids, Positive Education Program helps troubled and troubling children and youth successfully learn and grow through the Re-ED approach, blending quality education and mental health services in partnership with families, schools, and communities. Each year, PEP positively impacts the lives of 2,500 children and their families through these areas of service: integrated special education and mental health; early childhood; autism; community support; and consultation and training. PEP’s operates nine Day Treatment Centers, Day Care Plus, Connections and PEP Assist.

Since 1971, PEP has helped troubled and troubling children learn and grow, providing strength-basedspecial education and mental health services in partnership with families,schools and communities. Each year, PEP helps 2,500 children and their familiesthrough its areas of service: integrated special education & mental health,early childhood, autism, community support and consultation & training. PEP operates many programs including: eight Day Treatment Centers, Early ChildhoodPlus, Connections and PEP Assist.

Locally and nationally, PEP has been recognized for its excellent programming. In 1996, theU.S. Department of Education identified PEP’s Day Treatment Centers as one of six model special education programs in the country. In 2000, the U.S.Departments of Education and Justice recognized PEP for being an example of a model program providing intensive interventions to troubled students. In 2003, Positive Education Program won the Woodruff Prize, a local honor bestowed upon an agency demonstrating excellence in mental health care. In 2007,  PEP DayTreatment services were highlighted by the American Institutes for Research asone of three effective alternative education programs in the United States.
