The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 have created significant changes in available services and educational opportunities for students with disabilities. Throughout the years, amendments to IDEA have continued to define the responsibilities of public schools to provide special education and related services to students with disabilities.
