Achievement Centers for Children With Disabilities

The preschool and school age (grades K-6) programs offer a full school day for children with a diagnosis of Autism/PDD-NOS. A summer program completes the twelve-month focus of continual services. The preschool model is available at both the Westlake and Highland Hills locations. In collaboration with the Educational Service Center (ESC) of Northeast Ohio, this public preschool serves the needs of children who are currently not successful in their home schools.

The school model is designed to meet the individual needs of children with communication, sensory, and social needs characterized by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) using a comprehensive developmental approach. Each preschool class is limited to six children educated by a highly trained team of special education teachers, paraprofessionals, registered occupational therapists, speech therapists, a parent educator, a social worker, and a music therapist.

Children’s needs are addressed through their Individualized Education Program (IEP) utilizing a blended model. The methodologies include: Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH), Floor Time (Greenspan), and Musical Therapy.

Achievement Centers for Children partners with a non-profit agency serving preschool/primary aged children with autism in two separate facilities.
